Islam's Unique Attitude Towards Women

Unlike other popular beliefs, Islam does not blame Hawa AS alone for the First Sin. The Qur'an makes it clear that both she and her husband - the Prophet Adam AS were tempted, both of them sinned and Allah Ta'ala's pardon was granted to both of them after their repentance. They were addressed by Allah Ta'ala jointly.

Allah Ta'ala eloquently states in the Qur'an:

"O Mankind! Keep your duty to your Lord who created you from a single person, and created of like nature his mate, and from their twain scattered (like seeds) a multitude of men and women." (Surah An-Nisaa: Ayat 1)

Allah Ta'ala further states in the Qur'an:

" He (Allah) it is who did create you from a single soul and therefrom did create his mate, that he might dwell with her (in love)..."

The humanity of woman is declared in these decrees. She is not a great temptress, nor is she a slave and some chattel created for the amusement to be used and abused by men.

The crux of the law of Shari'ah is to preserve the family.
The emphasis in Islam is to move away from the materialistic life to one which is guided towards having functional individuals, families and communities. Thus the intelligent one is the one who disciplines himself / herself in order to avoid having dysfunctional families and as a result dysfunctional communities and society.

The word Islam is derived from the Arabic root "salam" which means among other things - peace, purity, submission and obedience. In the religious sense the word Islam means submission to the Will of Allah and obedience to Allah's Laws.

A Muslim is one who obeys, fully submits to, and worships Allah alone and bears testimony that Muhammad SAW was Allah's last Prophet and Messenger. Muslims never worshipped Muhammad SAW or any human being. Muslims believe in all the Prophets of Allah without any discrimination.

THE MUSLIM WOMAN THROUGHOUT HER STAGES IN LIFE

As a Daughter

In pagan Arabia, little girls were considered a burden and a disgrace, so they were buried alive by their fathers.

With the advent of Islam, Nabi SAW is reported to have said:

"Whosoever has a daughter and he does not bury her alive, does not insult her, does not favour his son over her, Allah will enter him into Paradise."

When a girl is born, it is a sign of honour for the parents. She brings with her blessings into the home and Allah Ta'ala's rahmat descends upon the family.

It is mentioned in a hadith that Nabi SAW said:

"When a female child is born, Allah Ta'ala sends His angels to that house. They come to the dwellers of the house and pray that peace may be upon them, The angels then cover the newly born girl in the shadow of their wings and caressing the head of the baby with their hands they say that, this is a weak and frail person, whoever will bear the responsibility of cherishing her will go on having the blessing of Allah Ta'ala as long as that person remains alive." (Al-Mujam-al-Saghir li Tabrani)

The Prophet Muhammad SAW also stated:

"Whosoever maintains two girls until they attain maturity, he and I will come on the Day of Judgement like this, (the Prophet Muhammad SAW hereby joined his two fingers held together)." (Sahih Muslim)

The pursuit of education and knowledge was made incumbent on every Muslim male and female more than one thousand four hundred years ago.

Every girl has a right to education and she is allowed to seek knowledge which will benefit her in the Hereafter as well as in this world. She is expected to make a positive contribution to society by applying her skills in the service of her family and society.

Nabi Muhammad SAW said:

"Seeking knowledge is mandatory for every Muslim." (Bayhaqi)

As a Wife

Allah Ta'ala has created men and women as company for one another, so that they can live in peace and tranquility. It will be found that men and women are jointly addressed in the Qur'an.

The Holy Qur'an states:

"And among His signs is that He created for you mates from among yourselves, that you may dwell in tranquility with them, and He has put love and mercy between your hearts. Undoubtedly in these are signs for those who reflect." (Surah 31: Ayat 21)

Besides all other provisions for her protection at the time of marriage, it has been decreed that the woman has full the right to her marriage gift which is presented to her by her husband. It is included in the nuptial contract, and that such ownership does not transfer to her husband or her father.

Among the aims of marriage is the provision of solace, comfort, peace and rest, for both of them. Both of them are entitled to each other's companionship and partnership. The husband has no right in Shari'ah to impose his whims and fancies on her. Although most wives cook and take care of domestic chores, she is not by default in Shari'ah - compelled to wash clothes or cook food for the household.

In fact, A'ishah RA reported that Nabi SAW helped his wives in domestic chores. He used to mend his shoes, sew his clothes, and work in his house just as any of you works in his own house.

The rights and responsibilities of a woman are equal to those of a man but they are not necessarily identical with them. This difference is understandable because men and women are not identical but they are created equals. Islam thus takes into due consideration, acknowledges her, and recognises her independent personality.

A woman is not less important than a man. She has to be treated equally, with justice and fairness. However, Allah Ta'ala has conferred the responsibility of leadership within this union to the husband.

The Qur'an states:

"And they (women) have rights similar to those (of men) over them, and men are a degree above them."

The leadership role does not mean the husband's dictatorship over his wife, rather it emphasises the importance of consultation, mutual agreement and taking counsel in making family decisions.

Economically, a wife does not have to compete in the market place for her upkeep. In return for the solace she provides to her husband, the Shari'ah has commanded the husband to compulsorily fulfil her material and spiritual needs. He cannot order her to earn a living nor order her to assist in his business.

The husband is encouraged to deal leniently and kindly with his wife when disputes or differences arise.

Nabi SAW is reported to have said:

"The most perfect Believers are the ones who are best in conduct, and the best of you are those who are best to their wives." (Ahmad, Tirmidhi)

Verbal, physical, financial and emotional abuse of a wife is totally out of keeping of a Muslim man's character. These actions are considered as disgraceful cowardice and he will be accountable for his cowardly treatment against his wife in the hereafter. He has to remember that his wife is not his property, she is Allah Ta'ala's property and was given to him by Allah Ta'ala as a gift, to be treasured, respected and cherished.

Allah SWT mentions in the Qur'an:

"Deal with women correctly and with kindness. If then, you dislike them, then it is possible that you dislike something in which Allah has created abundance of goodness therein." (Surah An-Nisaa: Ayat 19)

Just as a husband finds some characteristics disagreeable, he will find other characteristics agreeable. He is guided to seek and highlight the good in his wife.

As the woman's right to decide about her marriage is recognized, so also is her right to seek an end for an unsuccessful marriage is recognised.

Divorce is detested by Allah Ta'ala even though it has been made lawful by Him. It is the permissible thing most hated by Allah SWT.

The Prophet Muhammad SAW is reported to have said:

"The lawful thing which Allah hates most is divorce." (Tirmidhi, Abu Dawud, Ibn Majah)

This is because it disrupts the stability of the family and rocks the family system.

Certain steps and waiting periods should be observed by men and women seeking divorce. A woman can bring her request for a divorce before a Qadhi (Muslim judge) who will grant her a divorce by examining the circumstances.

Marriage in Islam is considered to fulfill five fundamental functions.

01. Protective and supportive function:

Marriage serves as an absorber and protector from the pressures of the over-bearing outside world. The ability to understand, sympathise, and support is a critical function of the spouses. It is within the ambit of a nurturing, loving and secure home life that marital harmony thrives and by extension a functional family and community.

02. Recreational function:

Nabi Muhammad SAW played and competed in running with his wife A'ishah RA. Leisure activities within the family group are encouraged, as the family that plays together stays together.

03. Social function:

Marriage unites two families and the couple has to accord respect to family members and foster ties with both sides of the family.

Nabi Muhammad SAW is reported to have said:

"Whosoever desires that sustenance be expanded for him and his life be prolonged, let him foster ties with the family."

The children learn to interact with their elders and peers. The virtues of respect, caring, sharing and reciprocating love for the pleasure of Allah Ta'ala are cultivated.

04. Educational function:

The Prophet Muhammad SAW is reported to have said:

"Nobody shall meet Allah Ta'ala with a sin greater than that of having left his family in ignorance." ( Daylami)

Ibn Atta RA said:

"A'ishah RA was among all the people, the one who had most knowledge of Fiqh, the one who was the most educated, and compared to those who surround her, the one whose judgement was the best."

The companions of A'ishah RA called her - "Bahrul Uluum", the ocean of knowledge. This was due to the vast amount of knowledge she gained from her husband.

05. Religious function:

A religious atmosphere within the home helps to develop humility and a sense of accountability for all our actions. When the couple mutually create this atmosphere, they then personify the following verse of the Holy Qur'an:

"Verily for all men and women who have surrendered themselves to Allah, all believing men and women, all pious men and women, all honest men and women, all patient men and women, all humble men and women, all accountable men and women, all fasting men and women, all chaste men and women who remember Allah increasingly; Allah has prepared forgiveness and a great reward." (Surah 33: Ayat 35)

Nabi Muhammad SAW has said:

"This world (and all it's contents) are but perishable commodities, the best of all perishable commodities is a pious wife."

Sex within the marriage is not mere sexual gratification; it is an act of charity.

Nabi Muhammad SAW said:

"In the sexual act of each of you there is Sadaqah."

The Companions RA asked:

"O Messenger of Allah! When one of us fulfills his sexual desires, he will be given a reward for it?"

He (SAW) replied:

"Do you not think that if he were to act upon it unlawfully, he would be sinning? Likewise, if he acts upon it lawfully, he will be rewarded." (Muslim)

The husband is reminded that he should handle their sexual relationship with care, warmth, and comfort and not treat his wife as a doormat who can be dispensed with according to his own selfish desires. He should seek mutual bliss, satisfaction and fulfillment with her.

As a Mother

A woman is a full and equal partner of man in the procreation of mankind. Her role is no less vital than his.

It is mentioned in one Hadith that Nabi SAW said:

"Does it not please you ( O Women!) that when you conceive from your husbands whilst he is pleased with you, then that woman will receive such reward equal to that of a fasting person in the path of Allah and spending the night in Ibadah. When her labour pains commence, the inhabitants of the earth and the sky are unaware of the stores of comfort that are prepared for her. When she delivers and breast feeds her child, then she will be granted a reward for every gulp of milk; and if she had to remain awake during the night for the sake of her child, she will receive the reward of emancipating seventy slaves in the path of Allah.

Do you know who these women are? They are pious, upright, delicately natured but yet are obedient to their husbands and not ungrateful to them."

Another Hadith states the Prophet Muhammad SAW as saying:

"A woman from her pregnancy till the time of weaning her child is like one protecting the boundaries of the Islamic state. If she passes away during this period, she attains the reward of martyrdom." (Shahidah)

The mother is the first seat of learning for her children. It is here, in the warmth of her love and care that the child learns about Allah Ta'ala, Nabi SAW, about honesty, fairness, justice, treatment of strangers, the poor, the helpless, etc. The child's socialisation process is not just geared towards filling his/ her head with information and fairy tales. The child learns his/ her responsibilities as a Muslim from an early age from the mother who is truly the centre of the child's universe at that stage.

The Qur'an has special recommendations for the good treatment of both parents.

Due to the great sacrifices she makes in bearing her children, spending sleepless nights watching over them when they are ill, virtually turning her day into night for their comfort and for rearing them with so much love and attention, the mother is given precedence and a higher status than the father.

A famous saying of Nabi SAW is:

"Paradise is at the feet of your mother."

A man came to Nabi SAW asking:

"O Messenger of Allah, who among the people is the most worthy of my good company?"

Nabi SAW said:

"Your mother."

The man then asked:

"Who else?"

Nabi SAW replied:

"Your mother."

The man then asked again:

"Then who else?"

Nabi SAW said:

"Your mother."

The man then asked:

"Who else?"

Only then did he get the answer:

"Your father."

THE MUSLIM WOMAN ECONOMIC STATUS

Islamic Law fully acknowledged the woman's right to her money, real estate or other property over one thousand, four hundred years ago. This right undergoes no change whether she is single or married. She retains her full right to buy, sell, mortgage or lease any or all of her properties. Her right to her properties applies even if she acquires them after her marriage. She is not regarded as a minor simply because she is a woman.

Not many of us know that in the Western world it was not until 1938 that the French Law was amended so as to recognise the eligibility of women to contract. A married woman was however, still required to secure her husband's permission before she could dispense with her private property.

In Islam, a woman is guaranteed her share of inheritance. Before Islam, she was not only deprived of that share but was herself a "transferable property" to be inherited by man. Whether she is a wife or mother, a sister or daughter, she receives a certain share of the diseased kin's property. This share depends on her degree of relationship to the diseased and the number of heirs. She cannot be disinherited. Even if the diseased wishes to deprive her by making a will to other relations, or, in favour of some cause, the Law will not allow him to do so. Her share of inheritance is completely hers, her father and husband can make no claim on it whatsoever.

As far as the woman's right to seek employment is concerned, it should be remembered that Islam regards her role in society as a mother and wife as the most sacred and an essential one, as she largely "shapes the future of nations". This vital and noble role cannot by any means be fulfilled by maids and babysitters which is customary in this day and age, even for Muslims.

A Muslim man is fully responsible for the maintenance of his wife, his children, in some cases his needy relatives, especially the females. Her husband's responsibility is neither waived nor reduced because of his wife's wealth or because of her access to any personal income gained from rent, work or profit.

Just as her possessions do not transfer to her husband after she marries him, she is not obliged to spend her wealth on her family. She was also given the choice of keeping her maiden surname over fourteen hundred years ago.

She is financially secure and provided for.

If she is a wife, her husband is the provider.

If she is a mother, it is the son who is the provider.

If she is a daughter, her father is the provider.

If she is sister, it is the brother who is the provider, etc.

Tips for a Happy and Successful Marriage

The young and excited bride-to-be and groom-to-be; ecstatic about the upcoming wedding and marriage and the joy that it will bring. Three to six months later, reality has set in and both spouses realise that marriage is no easy task, but one that takes a great deal of effort and patience. The following are tips for both wives and husbands, to help make the task a little less daunting, and to increase the many rewards that are possible in such a marvelous and complex relationship.

01 Enter the Marriage with the Right Intention and Renew this Often

Both spouses should enter the marriage with the pure intention of pleasing Allah SWT in order to receive Allah's grace and blessings. The marriage itself then becomes an act of worship and one for which both spouses will be rewarded. Allah will be pleased with them and this will be the most critical element in ensuring peace, stability and happiness throughout the marital life. It is also important to realise that when an act of worship is continued over a long period of time, it becomes necessary to renew one's intention often to remain on the correct path and to obtain the most benefit.

02 Remember that Your Spouse is also Your Brother or Sister in Islam

Too often Muslims treat other people outside the home with kindness and sincerity, but then behave in a very different manner when it comes to their own spouses. Muslims should always remember that one's spouse is also another brother or sister in Islam and that the rights and duties that apply to the general brotherhood (sisterhood) of Islam, should also form the basis of the marital relationship. Obviously, a spouse has rights beyond these, but there should be a clear understanding of the rights of brotherhood (sisterhood) and adherence to these principles.

03 Do Not Hold Unrealistic Expectations

Before marriage, people often have unrealistic ideas about their spouse-to-be, expecting perfection in all aspects. This rarely, if ever, plays out in reality and can lead to unnecessary problems and concerns. We should recall that Allah SWT created humans as imperfect beings, which means that many mistakes will be made throughout a lifetime. By turning the table and expecting imperfection, we will be pleasantly surprised and pleased when our spouse is much more than we ever hoped for. This, in turn, will lead to contentment within the marriage.

04 Emphasise the Best in Your Spouse

Since no one is endowed with all of the best qualities, emphasis should be placed on the positive qualities that a spouse possesses. Encouragement, praise, and gratitude should be expressed on a regular basis, which will strengthen these qualities and be beneficial in developing others. An attempt should be made to overlook or ignore negative characteristics, as the Prophet SAW said:
"A believing man should not have any malice against a believing woman. He may dislike one characteristic in her, but may find another in her which is pleasing." (Muslim)

05 Be Your Spouse's Best Friend

Try to think of what a best friend means and be one to your spouse. This may mean sharing interests, experiences, dreams, failures and upsets. It may involve understanding a spouse's likes and dislikes and attempting to please him or her in any way possible. A best friend is also usually someone that can be confided to trusted, and relied upon. A spouse should be the kind of friend that one would want to keep throughout life.

06 Spend Quality Time Together

It is not enough to share meals, chores and small talk together. Spouses should also find time to focus on strengthening the relationship. Often couples get busy with their own separate tasks and forget about working on one of the most important elements in life. Quality time may be anything from having a quiet, profound conversation to going for a nice long nature walk, to sharing a special hobby or project. Both spouses should enjoy the particular option chosen and distractions should be kept to a minimum.

07 Express Feelings Often

This is probably a very "Western" concept and one that some people may have difficulty fulfilling, but it is important to be open and honest about one's feelings, both positive and negative. The lines of communication should always be open and any concerns should be brought to the attention of the other spouse as soon as they arise. The rationale of this is that what begins as a simple concern may grow into a major problem if it is not addressed quickly and properly. The "silent treatment" has never been the remedy for anything.

08 Admit to Mistakes and Ask for Forgiveness

Just as we ask Allah to forgive us when we make mistakes, we should also do the same with our spouses. The stronger person is the one who can admit when he or she is wrong, request pardon from the other, and work hard to improve his/her aspects that are in need of change. When a person is unwilling to do this, there will be little growth and development in the marriage.

09 Never Bring Up Mistakes of the Past

It can be very hurting for another person to be reminded of past mistakes. In Islam, it is generally not recommended to dwell on the past. One may remember errors that were made so that they are not repeated, but this should not be done excessively. Certainly, as humans, we are not in the position to judge another person. Advice may be given, but not in a harmful manner.

10 Surprise Each Other at Times
This may entail bringing home a small gift or flowers, preparing a special meal, dressing up and beautifying oneself (this is not only for women), or sending a secret note in a lunchbox. A little imagination will go a long way here. The idea is to spice up the marriage and avoid getting into a dull routine that may negatively affect the marriage.

11 Have a Sense of Humour

This particular aspect can go a long way in preventing arguments and brightening the atmosphere of the home. Life is a constant stream of challenges and tests, and to approach it in a light-hearted manner will help to make the journey smoother and more enjoyable. You may also find that your spouse enjoys this characteristic and looks forward to spending time with you because of it.

Quick Tips for Discussions and Disagreements:

(a) Begin with the intention to resolve the issue. If both spouses have this intention and plan to consult together, it is more likely that there will be a successful resolution.

(b) Remember that it takes two to quarrel. If only one person chooses not to argue, there will be no argument. Generally, the one who is wrong does most of the talking.

(c) Both spouses should not be angry at the same time. If one of the spouses becomes upset, it is best if the other tries to remain calm and collected.

(d) Never yell at each other unless the house is on fire. Of course, house fires do not occur very frequently; yelling should occur at about the same rate.

(e) Never go to sleep with an argument unsettled. This is one of the worst things that can happen in a marriage and should be avoided as much as possible. This allows hurt feelings and thoughts to linger and generally exacerbates the problem.

(f) If one spouse needs to win, let it be your mate. Do not focus on winning yourself; this is the main reason that discussions tend to become heated.

The Marriage of Aishah RA - Understanding Imperative

Salams

Okay, I received an enquiry from my beloved friend - Ahmad Suffian. I am answering in English so that this may be put here for the benefit of all Muslims internationally, who wants to read. Bismillah.

Basic Understanding Imperative

In this day and age of stupidity, laxity and lack of understanding of the systematic preservation of Islamic text, there are so-called people who claim to have proven that through research, the Prophet Muhammad SAW's wife - Saiyidatina Aishah RA was not aged nine (9) at the time of her marriage, but was actually - nineteen (19. The main "evidence" for this was that one of narrators (Rawis), due to weak memory - gave false statement.

With the intention of preserving and protecting the tenets of the traditionalist, ya'ni - the Ahlus Sunnah Wal Jamaah, we will explain clearly in this post. For the sake of brevity, we shall not dwelve into reproducing the narrations here, because this is not a post of displaying Hadith. This is a post to explain and ellaborate based on these authentic narrations, from the Ulama of Taqwa, the Ulama of Haq.

To begin with, we must know this fact:

Aishah RA was married at the age of six (6). The Ahadith pertaining to this are in Sahih Bukhari and Sahih Muslim. All the narrators of these Ahadith are AUTHENTIC.

A Little About Aishah RA and Her Childhood Marriage

As a brief background, Aishah RA was known for her striking beauty and her formidable memory. She came under the loving care and attention of the Prophet SAW himself. As his (SAW's) wife and close companion, she acquired from the Prophet SAW - such knowledge and insight that no woman has ever acquired.

Aishah RA became the Prophet SAW's wife in Makkah when she was most likely in the tenth year of her life but her wedding did not take place until the second year after the Hijrah when she was about fourteen or fifteen years old. Before and after her wedding she maintained a natural jollity and innocence and did not seem at all overawed by the thought of being wedded to him (SAW) who was the Messenger of Allah SAW whom all his Companions RA, including her own mother and father, treated with such love and reverence as they gave to no one else.

About her wedding, Aishah RA herself related that shortly before she was to leave her parent's house, she slipped out into the courtyard to play with a passing friend:

"I was playing on a see-saw and my long streaming hair was dishevelled" - she said.

"They came and took me from my play and made me ready."

They dressed her in a wedding-dress made from fine red-striped cloth from Bahrain. Then her mother took her to the newly-built house where some women of the Ansar were waiting outside the door.

They greeted her with the words:

"For good and for happiness may all be well!"

Then, in the presence of the Prophet Muhammad SAW who was smiling, a bowl of milk was brought. The Prophet SAW drank from it himself and offered it to Aishah RA. She shyly declined it but when he insisted she did so and then offered the bowl to her sister Asma RA who was sitting beside her. Others also drank of it and that was as much as there was of the simple and solemn occasion of their wedding. There was no wedding feast.

Marriage to the Prophet Muhammad SAW did not change her playful ways. Her young friends came regularly to visit her in her own apartment.

Aishah RA said:

"I would be playing with my dolls with the girls who were my friends, and the Prophet (SAW) would come in and they would slip out of the house and he would go out after them and bring them back, for he was pleased for my sake to have them there."

Sometimes, the Prophet Muhammad SAW would say:

"Stay where you are"

- before they had time to leave, and the Prophet Muhammad SAW himself also join in their games.

Aishah RA said:

"One day, the Prophet (SAW) came in when I was playing with the dolls and he said:

"O Aishah, whatever game is this?"

"It is Solomon's horses," I said and he laughed."

Sometimes as the Prophet Muhammad SAW came in, he would screen himself with his cloak so as not to disturb Aishah RA and her friends.

Further Explaining The Evidence of Aishah's RA Age At Marriage Versus Common Western Ideology and Stupidity

So, to again recap, Aishah RA was six (6) years old when she was married to Nabi Muhammad SAW and was nine (9) years when the marriage was consummated.

The doubts about child abuse and paedophilia are merely the ideologies of the Kuffar missionaries and part of their efforts in dishonouring our beloved Nabi Muhammad SAW. The saddest thing is that some of our own Muslim "researchers" have fallen into this trap and searched for "evidence" to porport their claim. What a degradation, Na'udzubillah. AstaghfirullahulAdheem.

The thing is, the research of Islamic history and evidence from Seerah, Qur'an, and Hadith has already been done by the illustrious grand Imams, Muhaditheen and Mufasireen of the past. In analogy - there is no need to reinvent the wheel. The main disease here is lack of affirmation in the heart with regards to our Deen. The medicine for this is Da'wah, which will bring about Imaan, and then reliance, reverence and reference to our Pious Predecessors whose contributions we cannot repay.

One should not allow themselves to be indocrinated by such Kuffar whose primary goal is to poison the minds of people, thus creating an aversion to our beautiful and perfect religion of Islam.

A Taste of History in Brief

During the time of Nabi Muhammad SAW, it was perfectly normal for girls to get married at the age of puberty. We also find that it was a norm in all Semitic cultures from the Israelities to the Arabs and all nations in between.

According to some books of the Jews, it is even more preferable for a woman to be married when she has her first menstruation cycle. In another holy Jewish book, there are rules regarding sexual intercourse with girls who have not yet menstruated. Throughout history, puberty has always been a symbol of adulthood.

Marriage at the early years of puberty was acceptable in 7th century Arabia as it was the social norm in all Semitic cultures from the Israelites to the Arabs and all nations in between. According to "Ha Talmud Ha Bavli", which the Jews regard as their "Oral Torah", "Sanhedrin 76B" clearly states that it is preferable that a woman be married when she has her first menses, and in Ketuvot 6A there are rules regarding sexual intercourse with girls who have not yet menstruated, as mentioned above.

Now, in Chritianity, this is further collaborated when Jim West, ThD, a Baptist minister, observes the following tradition of the Israelites:

"The wife was to be taken from within the larger family circle (usually at the outset of puberty or around the age of thirteen) in order to maintain the purity of the family line."

Furthermore, who are we to complain anyway? Sinful, ignorant, arrogant Muslims? Do we know that there are no records of any objections to the marriage of the Prophet SAW to Aishah RA? Neither his (SAW's) contemporaries - friends or ENEMIES had ever criticised him (SAW) for this. It is extremely unfair for us to judge Nabi Muhamamd SAW by the standards set by the stupid people of today.

Defend and Protect Your Deen. Don't Be A Whimp!

So thus, we currently see the efforts of the Christian missionary activity focused primarily on derailing Islam now more than any other period in history. Thus, we witness numerous travesties and parodies coming from them in their attempts to twist, manipulate and totally abuse historical and etymological facts. These polemics range from a variety of the utterly hilarious to the outright abusive and cruel. One such dishonest and corrupt Christian missionary polemic has been focused to the allegation of the young marriage of Aishah RA with the Prophet Muhammad SAW only. The missionaries try to accuse the Prophet SAW of being a child molester, albeit in politically correct terms, due to the fact that Aishah RA was contracted at the age of six (6) years old and the marriage was consummated (Nikah) a few years after the marriage at nine (9) years old when she was in full puberty.

My brothers and sisters who are sincere:

The lapse of time between the Zawaj and Nikah of Aishah RA clearly shows that her parents were waiting for her to reach puberty before her marriage was consummated. If it were not for the fact that some gullible Christians have been parroting the claims without understanding the reasons behind it, we would have not even bothered with a refutation. Such a claim is based only on conjecture and moral relativism, and not on fact.

Modern Examples To Heal The Polluted Mind

Another important point is that in certain countries like Japan and Spain, the age of sexual consent is thirteen (13) years and twelve (12) years respectively. In the United States of America, men who have sexual intercourse with these women will be termed as paedophile, yet it is perfectly normal in their own countries. Would it be correct for the Americans to label the Japanese and Spaniards as paedophiles according to the US man-made standards? Only a stupid person or an arrogant person will put their head to the ground for such pathetic notions. These are all standards set by the "Western World". We do not blame everyone in them. But those who make the rules, and those who carve the so-called "ideals" of their society.

Do we want to listen to people whose failed Imaan has doomed them for Jahannam forever?

A smile, and a "No!" is the perfect answer.

So brothers and sisters:

Shall we judge our beloved Nabi Muhammad SAW by the standards set by the "Western World" of today or shall we judge by the standards that were set in his own time?

I don't need to explain anymore to this answer. A gesture will do. :)

Simple Scientific Evidence

It is also a proven fact that in those countries which have a hot climate, people mature faster. This further elaborates on the maturity of Aishah RA binti Abu Bakr RA, since the Arabian Peninsula has a very hot climate.

The significance of menstruation that anyone with the slightest familiarity with physiology will tell you is that it is a sign that the girl is being prepared to become a mother. Women reach puberty at different ages ranging from eight (8) to twelve (12) years old depending on genetics, race and environment. We read that there is little difference in the size of boys and girls until the age of ten, the growth-boom at puberty starts earlier in girls but lasts longer in boys. We also read that the first signs of puberty occur around the age of nine (9) years or ten (10) years in girls but closer to twelve (12) in boys.

Women in warmer environments reach puberty at a much earlier age than those in cold environments. As previously mentioned. The average temperature of the country or province is considered the chief factor here, not only with regard to menstruation but as regards to the whole sexual development at puberty. This is scientifically proven.

Puberty

Puberty has always been a symbol of adulthood throughout history.

Puberty is defined as the age or period at which a person is first capable of sexual reproduction, in other eras of history, a rite or celebration of this landmark event was a part of the culture. Did we know this? Okay - now we know.

The renowned sexologists, R.E.L. Masters and Allan Edwards, in their study of Afro-Asian sexual expression states the following:

"Today, in many parts of North Africa, Arabia, and India, girls are wedded and bedded between the ages of five and nine; and no self-respecting female remains unmarried beyond the age of puberty."

There is more proof, but we don't want this discussion to get too long.

Qur'an & Ahadith

Islam clearly teaches that adulthood starts when a person have attained puberty.
From the Qur'an and the collection of Imam Bukhari RA, we read:

The boy attaining the age of puberty and the validity of their witness and the Statement of Allah:

"And when the children among you attain the age of puberty, then let them also ask for permission (to enter)." (Surah 24: Ayat 59)

The above explains about puberty as well as the Adab of Hijab.

Next:

Al Mughirah RA said:

"I attained puberty at the age of twelve."

Next:

The attaining of puberty by women is with the start of menses, as is referred to by the Statement of Allah in the Qur'an:

"Such of your women as have passed the age of monthly courses, for them prescribed period if you have any doubts (about their periods) is three months." (Surah 65: Ayat 4)

Thus, it is part of Islam to acknowledge the coming of puberty as the start of adulthood. It is the time when the person has already matured and is ready the responsibilities of an adult.

So on what basis do the missionaries criticise the marriage of Aishah RA since her marriage was consummated when she had reached puberty???

We also read from the same source that:

Al-Hasan bin Salih RA said:

"I saw a neighbour of mine who became a grandmother at the age of twenty-one."

The note for the reference to the above narration says:

"This women attained puberty at the age of nine and married to give birth to a daughter at ten; the daughter had the same experience."

Conclusions & Summary

There is no need for a summary, but to ease the brain in its mission to convey to others, we have seen that:

1. It was the norm of the Semitic society in 7th century Arabia to allow pubescent marriages.

2. There were no reports of opposition to the Prophet SAW's marriage to Aishah RA either from his friends or his enemies.

3. Even today, there are cultures who still allow pubescent marriage for their young women.
In spite of facing these well-known facts, these sick missionaries would still have the audacity to point a finger at the Prophet Muhammad SAW for immorality. Yet, it was he (SAW) who had brought justice to the women of Arabia and raised them to a level they had not seen before in their society, something which ancient civilizations have never done to their women. Neither of those of today.

Spread this.

And Something Recent for Thought

A news article from The New Straits Times, Malaysia dated 10th of March, 2001 stated about a nine-year old girl living in northern Thailand giving birth to a baby girl.

May Allah SWT give us Imaan and Practice, and respect for Rasulullah SAW, his Sahabah RA, and our Pious Predecessors. Ameen.

A Complaint of a Woman

Once a lady approached Saiyidina Umar ibn Khattab RA during his Caliphate.

She said to him:

"Ya, Amirul Mu'mineen (Commander of the Faithful), by day my husband fasts and by night he is diligent in prayer, thus I feel inadequate to complain of him as he is engaged in the obedience of the Almighty."

Saiyidina Umar RA replied:

"What a pious man your husband is."

The complaining lady repeated her complaint.
In reply Saiyidina Umar RA repeated the same reply.

Ka'ab Asadi RA said unto Saiyidina Umar RA:

"Oh Commander of the Faithful, this lady is complaining of her husband due to the fact that her husband remains distant from her bed."

Saiyidina Umar RA replied:

"Just as you have understood her intentions, I feel you should resolve her problems."

Ka'ab RA then said to the lady:

"Beckon your husband to me."

Later then, the husband came forth.

Kaab RA said unto her husband:

"Your wife is complaining of you."

Her husband then asked whether if she was complaining of the shortage in food or drink (in their house).

Hazrat Ka'ab replied:

"No."

The lady then continued:

"Oh Chief Justice whose guidance is of great wisdom, his (my husband's) place of worship has busied him; my beloved (is away) from my chamber. Negligent is he unto my bed, the very works of his Ibadah. Hence, Oh Ka'ab make a decision, for he is indifferent be it day or night. His days and nights pass without sleep. Hence, I find he is not praiseworthy within womanly affairs."

The lady's husband replied:

"What has made me lose interest in sharing a bed within her bridal chamber, I am such who has been made to forget due to that which has been revealed. In the Surah An-Nahl (in the Qur'an) and seven other lengthily Surahs. Also the frightening, alarming Surahs of the Holy Qur'an."

Upon hearing the above Ka'ab RA ordered:

"Surely you have to fulfil her rights too. Her rights fall within four days for he who understands. Hence, leave your excuses and bestow her with her rights."

Ka'ab RA continues:

"Verily, Allah Ta'ala has allowed two, three or four woman (for a Muslim man to marry). Thus for you are three days and nights for Ibadah."

Having heard this excellent reply, Saiyidina Umar RA proclaimed (mafhum):

"I swear by Allah that I am confused as to whether the fact that you were able to instantly recognise the true intent of the complaining wife is more astounding or your flair and approach in resolving this matter - which is unknown to me. Be on your way, I announce you the Governor of Basrah as from today."

The Ruling Of Using Contraception In Islam

Nowadays, there are many types of contraceptive methods used. Among them:

Reversible-Chemical - the pill which is taken orally spermicidal jellies used locally.

Reversible-Mechanical - use of condoms and intra-uterine devices

Reversible Physical - coitus interruptus, rhythm method

Permanent - Sterilisation Operation - tubal ligations, vasectomies.

EXPLANATION:

Contraception is permissible on a limited scale for valid reasons - reasons considered by the Shari'ah to be valid. The circumstances which will permit reversible and permanent contraception differ.

Among the reasons accepted by the Shari'ah as valid for practising reversible contraception are:
1. Physical weakness.
2. Sickness.
3. The wife maintaining her beauty or figure for the sake of her husband.
4. The couple being on a journey or in a distant land.
5. Adverse political conditions, e.g. children are forcibly separated fromtheir parents as is advocated by communism; etc.
6. The couple decide to separate in the near future.
7. The wife is an immoral person.

The above are valid grounds for practising reversible contraception.

Poverty or the fear of poverty are not valid reasons for contraception. It is not permissible to practice contraception on account of a fear of not being able to provide for a large family. Such a fear is an attribute of non-Muslims.

According to the Al-Qur'an:

'There is not a living creature, but its sustenance is the responsibility of Allah."

Similarly desire to curb sexual desire which may stem out of piety is not a lawful ground for contraception. If practised for any reason which is unlawful in Islam, then contraception will likewise be unlawful, e.g. forindulgence in illicit sex.

Permanent contraception is permissible only if the woman's life is in danger or her health is seriously threatened.

Also Al-Tabarani extracted in his book entitled Al-Mu’jam al-Kabeer that Nabi SAW said:

"Get married and have large families."

Islam has encouraged and exhorted proliferation, and made the preserving of progeny one of the high ideals; Islam has decreed a set of rules designed to maintain the progeny, such as marriage, and also to protect it as reflected in Allah SWT saying in the Qur'an:

"Kill not your children for fear of want, We shall provide sustenance for them as well as for you."(Surah 17: Ayat 31)

Allah SWT also mentions in the Qur'an:

"And from them twain he scattered countless men and women." (Surah 4: Verse 1)

In Islam, it isn’t permitted to halt birth due to economic or financial reasons, Allah SWT says:

"There is no moving creature on earth but its sustenance depends on Allah." (Surah 11: Verse 6)

And Allah SWT says in the Qur'an:

"Do not kill your children for fear of poverty for it is we who shall provide sustenance for you as well as for them." (Surah 6: Verse 2)

In Islam as in all the religions, fertility is highly prized and children are a gift of Allah to bring:

"Joy to our eyes." (Surah 25: Verse 74)

Bukhari and Muslim extracted on the authority of Sa‘id al-Khudri RA who reported:

"We were out with the Messenger of Allah (SAW) and we desired our women as we have been complaining from celibacy, our women wanted us to perform the ‘azl (coitus interruptus / withdrawal), so we asked Allah’s Messenger (SAW) about this and he said:

"There is no harm in doing this for Allah swt will create what he wishes till the Day of Judgment."

According to Umar ibn Khattab RA, the Prophet SAW forbade the practice of contraception (azl) with a free woman except with her permission.

The above texts explicitly indicate that the ‘azl, in other words temporary contraception, is permitted (mubah). This is so because the permissibility of ‘azl has been mentioned in connection with unwanted pregnancies. However, the belief must always be unshakable that if we used any means of contraception, Allah SWT will always create whatever he wished till the Day of Judgement.

Allah SWT says in the Qur'an:

"Losers are those who killed their children foolishly, due to their lack of knowledge, and prohibited what God has provided for them, and followed innovations attributed to God. They have gone astray, they are not guided." (Surah 6: Verse 140)

The Punishment for Masturbation In Islam

Masturbation is Haraam.

This is the ruling of the four mazhabs i.e. Maliki, Shafi'i, Hanafi and a narration from Imam Hanbali himself. They have drawn their conclusions from the following proofs:

PROOFS FROM THE QUR'AN

Allah Ta'ala says:

"And those who guard their private parts from their wives and those (slave-girls) which their right-hands own - so there is no blame upon them. Then whoever seeks beyond that (which is lawful), they are the transgressors."

The intended meaning of these Ayats is clear. Allah Ta'ala has praised the believers for guarding their private parts from that which He has made forbidden for them. Allah has permitted them to approach their wives and slave-girls. Thereafter - whoever seeks beyond that which is lawful are oppressors who overstep from Halaal (permitted) towards Haraam (prohibited).

Hafiz ibn Kathir RA writes Imam Shafi'i RA and those who have agreed with him have concluded that masturbation is Haraam from this Ayat. He says:

"Masturbation is excluded from these two types which Allah has made Halaal i.e. with wives and slave-girls."

Similarly, these Fuqaha (Jurists) have drawn their conclusion from the following Ayat:

"And those who do not find the means to marry should remain chaste until Allah gives them resources by His grace."

The above Ayat shows masturbation to be Haraam because of two reasons:

Firstly: in this Ayat, Allah has given the command of chastity and, according to the principles of Fiqh, a command (an imperative) denotes Wujub (incumbency, obligation). Hence to remain chaste is Wajib (compulsory) and wherever chastity is Wajib it becomes Waajib to refrain from that which is contrary to it, for example, adultery, fornication, and sodomy. This is due to the fact that obligatory chastity will not materialise except by complete refrainment from all that which is contrary to chastity.

Secondly: in this Ayat, Allah has made chastity obligatory on those who are unable to execute the command of Nikah. Here Allah has not determined any connection or link between marriage and chastity. Hence, this demands that masturbation should be Haraam. And if assuming, it was permissible, then Allah would have mentioned it at this point because this was the place of explanation. The silence maintaned by Allah with regard to it at a place which requires its explanation, denotes that masturbation is Haraam.

Imam Qurtubi RA has written in the Tafsir of this Ayat:

"And when Allah Ta'ala has not determined any order between Nikah and chastity, then this shows that besides these two, everything else is Haraam. However, this Hurmat (unlawfulness) does not include slave-girls because another command of the Qur'an makes them Mubah (permissible), i.e. "That which the right-hands earn (i.e. slave-girls)." Hence, in this manner an addition of slave-girl has come. Masturbation, however still remains Haraam."

"Those who seek beyond this (i.e. wives and slave-girls) are transgressors." (Al-Ma'arij: 31)

PROOFS FROM AHADITH

Similarly, the Fuqahaa have drawn their conclusion from a Hadith reported by Abdullah bin Mas'ud RA in Bukhari and Muslim. He reports that Rasulullah SAW said:

"O group of youth! Whoever from among you can marry should do so because it keeps the gaze low and it protects the private parts. And he who cannot marry should make it compulsory upon himself to fast because it breaks lust."

Nabi SAW directed the person who is incapable of bearing the burden on Nikah towards Sawm (fasting). If assuming, masturbation was permissible, Rasulullah SAW would have mentioned it at this point. Rasulullah SAW however maintained silence. Hence, this indicates that masturbation is Haraam because silence at the place of explanation gives the benefit of restriction.

Some of the Fuqahaa have drawn their conclusion from a narration reported by Hasan bin Arfah RA that Nabi SAW said:

"Seven persons are such that Allah will not look at them on the Day of Qiyamat nor will He purify them nor will He include them among the learned and Allah will enter them into Jahannam. They will enter Jahannam first except for those who repent. As those who repent Allah will accept their repentance. 1. A person who masturbates. 2. A person who performs the act of sodomy. 3. The person upon whom the act of sodomy is performed. 4. A perpetual drunkard. 5. The person who hits his parents so much that they appeal for help. 6. The person who harms his neighbours so much so that they curse him. 7. The person who commits adultery with his neighbour's wife. (Ibn Kathir: Volume 5: Page 458)

Anas RA narrates that Rasulullah SAW said:

"The person who performs Nikah with his hands (i.e. masturbates) is cursed. (Tafsir Mazhari : Volume 12: Page 94)

Sa'eed bin Jubayr RA narrates that Rasulullah SAW said:

"Allah Ta'ala will inflict a punishment on a group of people because they played with their private parts."

SAYINGS OF OUR PIOUS PREDECESSORS WITH REGARD TO MASTURBATION

Attaa RA says:

"Some people will be resurrected in such a condition that their hands will be pregnant. I think they are those who masturbate."

Illigitimate Child and Father

There is a confusion in terms of what are the responsibilities of a Muslim man who fathered a child out of wedlock and what are the rights of these children?

In this day and age there is popular belief surfacing among a certain sect of Muslim men that is giving them the impression that they have no responsibilities toward children they have fathered out of wedlock.

Principally, a child born out of wedlock is not attributed to the biological father. The reason being - to condemn such illicit and Haraam acts.

If Shari'ah grants the child recognition, people will continue with adulterous relationships. The mother of the child must bear the consequences of her consent to the Haraam act. That will serve as an eye-opener to other females not to consent to a Haraam act as she will have to suffer the consequences all by herself.

Repentance After Zina

In an Islamic state, those who committed zina mush be punished accordingly i.e. 100 lashes. Outside an Islamic state, this is not a requirement.

Allah SWT is Most Merciful and may accept the repentance (Taubah) of his slaves.

The basic conditions for repentance to be accepted are:

1. Sincerely regret committing the sin
2. Make firm intention never to repeat the sin in future

The person(s) must also refrain from joining the company of people who are involved in such sins.

InshaAllah, Allah will accept the repentance.

The Ruling on Fornication

Illicit sexual relationship between an unmarried male and an unmarried female defined as Zina (fornication) is Haraam (strictly prohibited).

In an Islamic state, if convicted, they will be lashed 100 lashes each.

Oral Sex - An In-Depth Spiritual Discussion

Oral sex between a husband and wife is considered as Makruh Tahrimi (highly undesirable) by the jurists, since there is strong possibility that by ejaculation, Mazi (male sexual fluid) comes out and enters the mouth of the partner.

There is consensus amongst the Fuqaha that Mazi is Najis (impure)

What we must understand here is that Insan has been created as a bearer of high and noble attributes. In him he mirrors the attributes of divinity (Sifat Ilaahiyya) - such as life, knowledge, power, will, sight, hearing, speech, love, etc.

Insan has been adorned with the Nur of Aqal (the light of intelligence). This celestial faculty of intelligence creates in Insan the capacity for the manifestation of the lofty and divine attributes of Allah Ta'ala. By virtue of the Nur of Aql Insan becomes incandescent by being a mirror for these lofty attributes and manifestation (Tajalliyaat Zilliyah and Sifaat Zaatiyyah).

As a direct consequence of this lofty pedestal which Insan occupies in the Divine Scheme, the mantle of Khilafah (vicegerency) has been conferred on him. Stating this fact, the Qur'an declares:

"Verily I shall be creating on earth a Khalifah."

In the Tafsir, it is also said that in relation to all the species of life, man has been endowned with the most beautiful form. All other animals have been created in a lowly form with their heads downwards. Their faces constantly pointing downwards to the earth indicate their low rank in relation to man. In contrast, man has been created upright and he eats his food by means of raising it with his hands unlike the lowly beasts with faces downwards.

In the Tafsir, it is further said that when man willingly destroys his natural ability to progress to the pedestals of elevation, he degenerates and falls from his lofty mansion. He then falls to levels lower than the level of dogs, pigs and even Shayateen.

According to the authentic Tafsir, prior to the creation of Adam AS, the angels entertained the opinion that Allah will not create any being superior to them. Allah then negates this opinion of the angels by creating Adam AS and making him a manifestation of divine attributes. To illustrate Insan's superiority over all species of creation, Allah also commanded the angels to make Sajadah (prostration) to Adam AS.

The superiority of man is well emphasised by the statement of Rasulullah SAW:

"Allah created Adam in His (Allah's) form."

Here it is sufficient to mention the interpretation of the authorities that - intelligence, sight, hearing, etc. are lofty attributes located in that part of the human body called - the head. It is for this reason that Rasulullah SAW forbade striking or slapping the face of any human being or even an animal.

In the Tafsir of the Qur'anic Aayat which permits husbands to beat wives in cases of necessity, it is said: "The face shall not be slapped".

Explaining the reason for the prohibition of slapping the face, Imam Nawawi RA says in his Sharhul Muslim -

"Because the face is the embodiment of man's beauty in addition to it being of sublime nature."

In the Ahadith, the following narration appears:

"Verily, your mouths are pathways of the Qur'n, therefore purify your mouths with Miswak."

The Makhaarij or places from whence Qur'anic huruf (letters) emanate are located in the mouth. The great worship of Tilaawat of the Qur'an is effected via the mouth, hence the Hadith describes the mouth as the "pathway of the Qur'an". Since it is, literally speaking, the channel for the recitation of the Qur'an, Rasulullah SAW emphasised much the maintainance of its purity.

The emphasis on the purity of the mouth could be gauged from the many times Rasulullah SAW would use the Miswak everyday to clean his mouth. The practice of Miswak is strongly stressed by the Shari'ah.

In one Hadith, Rasulullah SAW said:

"When the servant of Allah uses the Miswak and then performs Solat, an angel stands behind him, listening attentively to the recitation of the Qur'an. The angels draws closer and closer to the reciter and places his mouth on the mouth of the reciter. Thus every word emanating from the mouth of the Musalli enters the angel's mouth. Therefore, maintain your mouth pure and clean for the Qur'an."

The actual purpose underlying the creation of man is Zikrullah or the Remembrance of Allah. Rasulullah SAW ordered Muslims to maintain their tongues fresh with the Zikr of Allah. The facts mentioned above will indicate that Insan is Ashraful Makhlukaat (The Noblest of Creation) and the noblest part of his body is his head which is the location for lofty faculties and attributes which earn for him the designation of "the form of Allah".

In order that he maintains his lofty rank and progresses continuously towards loftier mansions and closer Divine Proximity, it is essential that man exercises restraint over his physical and animal qualities. If he fails in this respect, he will descend to a level below the lowly beasts.

Allah Ta'ala has endowed man with intelligence, will-power and shame. He must employ these attributes to subdue his animal and carnal desires and refrain from indulgence in the excesses of lust. If he fails in this achievement he will annihilate himself spiritually and degenerate to sub-animal levels. The sublimity of Islam is of such a lofty degree that it exhorts its adherence to adopt dignity, deportment and propriety in even sexual relationship.

RasulullahSAW advised his Ummah to abstain from total nudity when indulging in coitus and not to behave 'like asses'. Since Islam is a culture of transcendental values calculated to ensure maximum remembrance of Allah Ta'ala, a Muslim should not debase himself to a sub-animal level by resorting to the vile practice of oral sex. The mouth of Insan is the pathway of the Qur'an, his tongue has been commanded to remain fresh with Zikrullah; his mouth is situated in the noblest part of his body; the functions of his mouth are noble and lofty; his mouth is a passageway for transference of the recited Qur'an into the mouth of the listening angel. He cannot, therefore, debase and dishonour himself so disgracefully by resorting to the revolting practice of oral sex.

A Muslim should not dishonour that head and face which the Shari'ah of Islam commands to be honoured. Allah Ta'ala honoured the human head with noble qualities, the highest being the Nur of Aql, but man debases that lofty part of his body by indulging in an act of bestiality not even committed by the lowly beasts. It does not behove man in general, and a Muslim in particular to degrade himself in this manner. The Mu'min's link with Allah Ta'ala is so strong or ought to be so strong that the Shari'ah has prescribed a particular Du'a to be recited even when a man approaches his wife for sexual relations. Even at the moment of reaching climax and ejaculation, the Muslim is required to read in his mind (without moving the lips) - a special Du'a so that he remains protected from any Syaitaani interference.

We learn from the Hadith of Rasulullah SAW that Syaitaan attempts to interfere with man even while he indulges in lawful sex, hence the wording of the special Du'a for this occasion is

"O Allah! Protect us from Syaitaan and protect the offspring you grant us from Syaitaan."

Allah Ta'ala has honoured man highly, hence the Qur'an says:

"Verily, we have honoured the sons of Adam."

He is therefore not allowed to debase himself with the bestial acts which even the lowly beasts do not commit. The mouth is an honoured part of the physical body. It is not a receptacle of impurity. The Shari'ah emphasises the maintainance of its purity. Even in the developing foetus, Allah Ta'ala has arranged for the maintainance of the purity of the mouth. The umbilical cord connects the developing embryo to its mother. It is the passageway in which exchange of nutrient and waste materials with the circulatory system of the mother takes place. In man the umbilical cord arises at the navel below which is the location of the rebellious Nafs which reduces man to sub-animal levels if not restrained. Why does Allah Ta'ala not create the foetus with the umbilical cord attached to its mouth so that its nutrition reaches it in the normal way i.e. via the mouth? Right until the very last moments prior to its emergence into the external world, the baby's nutrition is via the umblical cord. Immediately on reaching the outside world its nourishment reaches it from the mouth. Since the umbilical cord is also the passageway for impure waste matter, its connection is near to the location of the lowly nafs. The mouth has thus been guarded against impurities. The facts presented in this article should be sufficient to convey to Muslims that their Imaan and the spirit of the teachings of Islam do not permit them to grovel in the dregs of debasement and perpetrate moral injustice by utilising the mouth for deriving sexual pleasure. This is not the function of the mouth. It is a misappropriation of an Amanah (Trust). All parts of the body are Amanah which have to be utilised in accordance with the instructions of Allah Ta'ala. Such contamination and moral pollution as entailed by oral sex are most unbecoming the dignity and rank of man, especially if the Insan appears to be a follower of the illustrious Shari'ah of Muhammad SAW. Allah Ta'ala states in the Noble Qur'an:

"Verily, Allah loves those who purify themselves."
