Quick Hadith - 112

HADITH
1

Abu Hurairah RA narrates that Rasulullah SAW said:

"Verily Allah says, "O son of Adam! Free yourself for my worship, (and) I will fill your heart with independence and close your poverty, and if you do not do that - I will fill your hands with involvement (by granting wealth), and I will not close your poverty"." (Mishkat, Qadeemi)

HADITH 2

Abu Hurairah RA narrates that Rasulullah SAW said:

"Who will take these words (advises) and practise upon them or teach that person who will practise them?"

I (Abu Hurairah RA) said:

"I (will take those words) O Prophet of Allah."

Rasulullah SAW held my hand and counted (advised) five things - He (Rasulullah SAW) said:

1. Abstain from Mahaarim (places of Haraam) you will be the greatest worshipper;
2. Be happy with what Allah decrees for you, you will be the most independent person;
3. Be good to your neighbour, you will be a (true) believer;
4. Love for the people what you love for yourself, you will be a (true) Muslim;
5. Do not laugh abundantly, verily abundant laughing kills the heart."

(Miskaat; Qadeemi)

COMMENTARY

Generally, a wealthy person engages himself in administering and investing his wealth. There seems to be no end to that, therefore, despite having enough, his poverty is not closed. He aspires for more and more. All his time consumed in this materialistic world is at the expense of losing an eternal investment for the Hereafter.

The above narrations clearly announces the promise of Allah SWT - for those who will be willing to sacrifice his/her time and life for Deen - there is success and prosperity; and for those who are selfish and would prefer to spend the time in his/her life to fulfill desires - Allah SWT shall allow them to continue, and place in their hearts thousands of worries which will make them grievous in the continuing pursuit of finding things which will have no value at all in the everlasting Aakhirah. May Allah SWT save us all. Ameen.
