Quick Hadith 105

Abu Hurairah RA narrates that Rasulullah SAW said:

"The fire (of Hell) is covered with desires and Jannah (Paradise) is covered with difficulties." (Mishkaat, Mi’raaj)

In order to enter any covered place, the covering has to be removed. The covering of Hell is the fulfilment of one’s (unlawful) passions and desires. And the covering of Jannah is making sacrifices against odds and difficulties.

Allah Ta'ala sent us to this world to test our obedience to Him. Allah placed the instinct of desires in us. if we fulfil our desires against his commands, we will be uncovering the veil of Hell for ourselves. If we suppress our desires to be obedient to Allah, we will be uncovering the veil of Jannah for ourselves.

Before fulfilling our desires, we should conscientise and imagine ourselves of actually being prepared to be burnt in a fire 70 times more severe than the fire of this world. And that is just the weakest fire in Jahannam.
