Funerals of Non-Muslims

It is not permissible for Muslims to attend any burial proceedings of Non-Muslims.

Wisdom should be used to make sure that Non-Muslim acquaintances are not upset with this ruling. The easiest way for a start is to make sure that we do not have a relationship too close with Non-Muslims. [This has been explained in a previous entry.]

Should any visits be made to a Non-Muslim's house, it should be made with the intention of Da'wah and not close brotherhood-like friendship. A person must be careful of uttering things like, "may he be sent to heaven" etc. in a manner as how du'as would be made for deceased Muslims.

There is no compromise in this issue, though a high level of mannerism is commended.
