If The Prophet (SAW) Visited Us

(POETRY)

If the Prophet SAW visited us,
Just for a day or two thus,

If he came unexpectedly,
I wonder what would we do,

Oh, I know - we'd give him our nicest room, to such an honourable guest,
And all the food we'd serve him, would be the very vest,

And, we would keep assuring him, we are glad to have him there,
That serving him in our home, is Joy beyond compare,

But...

When we saw him coming, would we meet him at the door,
With arms outstretched in welcome, to our visitor?

Or...

Would we have to change our clothes, before we let him in ?
Or hide some magazines, and put the Qur'an where they should have been?

Would we still show movies, on our television set?
Or would we rush to switch it off, before he gets upset?

Would we hide our songs and music, and take Hadith books out?
Could we let him walk right in, or would we have to rush about?

And, I wonder - if the Prophet SAW spent with us, a day or two,
would we go right on doing, the things we always do?

Would we go right on saying, the things we always say?
Would life for us continue, as it does from day to day?

Would we keep up each and every prayer, without putting on a frown?
And would we always jump on early, for prayers at Dawn?

Would we sing the songs we sing, and read the books we read?
And let him know the things on which, our minds and hearts feed?

Would we take the Prophet (SAW) with us, everywhere we intend to go?
Or would we have to change our plans, just for a day or so?

Would we be glad to have him meet, our very closest friends?
Or would we hope they'd stay away, until his visit ends?

Would we be glad to have him stay, forever on and on?
Or would we sigh with relief, when he at last was gone?
