Is It Permissible for Non-Muhrim Men & Women To Chat Over The Internet?

It is strictly prohibited (Haram) for non-muhrim males and females to have general (unnecessary) conversations with each other through any communication, such as telephone, chat-line, CB's, etc. Often, such communications lead to many immoral acts and also cause marital disputes and fitnah.
