Criteria in Choosing A Wife

Rasulullah SAW said:

"A woman is generally married for four reasons; her wealth, status, beauty and priority. Successful is he who made piety his criteria of marriage."

That does not mean one should not consider the other three factors. However, the piety of a female should be strongly considered as that quality is most required to make a happy home.

It is also important that a person physically sees his candidate(s) with the intention of searching for a wife, as that is permissible and recommended. Do not rely on photographs, emails etc.

Some ladies may be photogenic, though in real life, she may not appeal to the person.

Some ladies may not be photogenic, though in real life, she may very much appeal to that person.
